Rizong monastery was built in 1831 by the great Lama Tsultim Nima. The monastery upholds the teachings of the great Tsongkhapa. Dress and food provisions are provided for all members of the community by the governing body of the monastery. Nothing other than religious robes and books is permitted for the inmates of each cell. There are 40 monks in residence. The incumbents of the monastery are the successive reincarnations of Lama Tsultim Nima and of his son, Sras Rinpoche.

Lamayuru is famous for moon like landscape similar to lunar terrain. The landscape founds favour with photographers and trekkers. The mountain slopes below the village once supported a now-drained-off gigantic lake. The slopes that were once under lake water  look like yellow butter over dark-brown mountains that rise steeply from the base of the valley referred as moonland by the locals. With the passage of time, erosion from wind and water had created curious patterns all over the slopes some look like castles, some like sand dunes and some like massive cheese with holes in them.

Lamayuru is located almost midway between Kargil and Leh on a spur high above the Valley and is one of the most picturesque site as evident from the picture taken. It lies at approximately 127 km west of the city of Leh. Lamayuru Monastery belongs to Red-Hat sect of Buddhism and houses approximately 150 Buddhist monks. The monastery consists of a series of shrines and also has a rich collection of magnificent paintings.

Alchi Monastery is renowned as the oldest Buddhist learning center in Ladakh, it is located on the bank of Indus River. A national heritage site, it is distinct from other monasteries in Ladakh as it is situated on flat ground unlike others which are located on hilltops. The foundation of the monastery was laid by Tibetan translator Rinchen Zangpo in the middle of 12th century.

Dah, or Dha, and Hanu are two villages of the Brokpa of the LehDistrict of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. They are the only two villages that tourists are allowed to visit out of a number of Brokpa villages. The Dard people of Dah Hanu are nominally Buddhist but also worship their own animist pantheon of gods. They have an Indo-European appearance in contrast to the predominant Tibeto-Mongol inhabitants of most of Ladakh. Dha and Hanu are two villages situated in the Dhahanu valley, about 90kms from Uley Eco Resort.

The Likir Monastery or gompa is one of the oldest and well maintained monasteries in Ladakh district in India’s northernmost state, Jammu and Kashmir. The monastery is located in Likir village is believed to have been in existence since 11th century. The original name of Likir monastery is Klu-kkhyil gompa. Besides being the oldest, the monastery is also known for the 75 feet statue of Buddha. About 62 m from Leh, Likir village located in Indus Valley is believed to be among the oldest villages of India. Likir means the Naga encircled.
